Floor cleaner that's safe for dogs?

In short, are there any "likely to be available in a local supermarket" floor cleaners that are safe for dogs?

We have mostly tiled floors downstairs, and will (hopefully!) be getting a dog in the next couple of months. I don't know whether the cleaner we're currently using for the spray mop and in the robot mop is safe to keep using or if we need to make a change...

Are there any specific ingredients to avoid? Is it enough if it says "non-toxic"?

There seem to be plenty of super duper eco friendly brands listed as dog-safe on Google, but they all seem to be either very expensive, not available to buy locally, or both!

Honestly it's not something I've ever found to be a problem - just keep them off the floor while it's wet.

I buy a bubblegum scented kennel cleaner from Amazon. Smells lovely and totally safe on floors

I just use Method and keep the animals off the wet floors until they're dry.

I use the Sainsbury's lemon surface cleaner. Never had a problem.

As long as you wait until it's dry before you let them in that room it's fine to use anything.

It's really good to be thinking of these things though!

More importantly- make sure you go through your garden and house and check plants for toxicity as a rule I wouldn't have anything poisonous or highly toxic but mildly toxic is ok if you watch them. I've seen lots of dogs poisoned by eating plants they shouldn't .

Learn all the dangerous foods as well - it amazes me how many people don't realise how toxic grapes and raisins are.

Hope I didn't sound patronising it's just all good stuff to learn for new dog owners.

Zoflora do a dog friendly one, you can dilute that for a spray mop.

Thanks! I think I'll finish off the spray mop stuff we have at the moment and not worry too much about it but maybe replace it with an eco brand just to be sure. We use the brand specific robot mop cleaner but honestly the mop itself is going haywire so maybe that's a silver lining! Glad to know it's not something I need to be super wary of

@MotherofWhippets81 Thanks for this advice too. Not taken as patronising at all - I figure it's better to know something twice than never! Especially when some things can have really serious consequences. I did know about the toxic foods and some of the plants, but not all! Need to relocate the dragon tree and ficus...

A steam mop is your best option. The heat kills bacteria. No chemicals needed. Even mild cleaning products can irritate your dog's soft palate and cause a weird 'reverse sneeze' symptom!
