Do dog groomers not remove ticks?

I took my very shaggy dog to the groomer's today. He's a non-shedding breed, so goes every few months. The groomer found one large tick under his fur and pointed it out to my daughter's partner, who picked up the dog after his appointment. She didn't remove the tick and in fact had cut his hair around it. This struck me as slightly unusual, but having never been in this position, I don't know what is the done thing.
Thanks.

I imagine she doesn't have the right insurance to cover her if something goes wrong.

Get a tic remover! Easy to use

Mine does.

I would absolutely expect a groomer to remove the odd tick - it's not exactly rocket science Confused

An infestation is different but surely you don't need insurance to use a tick tool?

I'm a dog walker and check my dogs over after walks and remove any ticks I spot!

Im a dog groomer and we have to get permission from the owner before we can try and remove any
Sometimes when trying to remove the tick, legs or head can break off and this can cause infection if left so the owners would then need to take the dog to the vet, so its likely to do with insurance or not wanting to risk any annoyed customers at needing to make a vets trip

^Yes she did, via the person who picked her up.

Who happens to speak no English (which I had told her about when I dropped the dog off). Thankfully I speak some of his language, and he was able to show me the actual tick. He's from South America originally and luckily was used to ticks.
I would have thought a very experienced groomer would be used to seeing the odd tick, and deal with it ... rather than wash and cut around it.
She sees the dogs on an individual basis and it would only have taken a second to call and ask if I wanted it removed.

That's pretty poor. She should have called you or had you sign a form saying she'll photograph and remove any ticks she finds your dog.

I wouldn't be happy. It is not a good idea to trim around a tick. You want to avoid anything that could make the tick feel threatend because that is when the tick could regurgitate their nasties into your dog. The groomer should have stopped and called you re removal of the tick before carrying on with the grooming session, IMO.

I'm a groomer & I do remove ticks. Insurance covers this too
