New puppy growling

I have a 12 week old westie/ poodle cross. We've had her a week.
She's been really good with toilet training, socialising etc.She seems to be particularly bonded with me. She follows me everywhere and sits next to me.
Tonight I was on the sofa and put her on the floor as I was eating. She kept trying to get up but I wouldn't let her up. She can't get up without help.
She sat next to my feet and growled continuously.
I ignored her completely. When she was quiet I picked her up and gave her a fuss. As soon as she growled again I put her down.
Is this the right way to approach it? I've had a westie before but not a puppy.
Just to add , she's a bit out of sorts today as she had her second jabs.

I don't like it when dogs beg when you are eating. I taught mine 'go to your bed' and 'wait' commands first and so at any mealtime he would go to wait in his bed until we were all finished eating. Once everyone has left the table he then gets a treat or his dinner for waiting patiently. Also in the first few months anytime I gave him food or a treat I would give him a good petting all over and praise so that he doesn't food guard and knows it's fine for people to close to him when he has food.

I don't want her to beg for food either. I want to eat in peace.
I'll have to teach her to sit and wait.

We found just giving one simple command is best 'bed' rather than 'go to your bed'. I saw this on a dog training program on TV years ago and I think it works. If we say 'bed' our 2 dogs go over and climb into their baskets.

I think previous posters are being a bit ambitious. ‘Bed’ is a fairly sophisticated cue and a 12 week old puppy is rarely capable of the type of patience that it requires!

I have a 14 week old Goldie who also very much wants our food. At meal times she’s put in her crate with a chew and/or she has some of her daily meal allowance scattered into the garden for her to hunt it out.

I just wouldn't have her anywhere near you while you're eating.

It took us a while to teach ours not to beg. Ignore her during meal times. Train ‘bed’ separately. There was also 2 of us so one would eat while the other one trained bed. Then the rest of the family started feeding her at the table…gits.
