I have 2 dogs, 4 and 5 that are just so fussy.

They will eat something new for a few days to a week then completely stop.
They will just not eat to the point where they're throwing up frothy bile from having an emtpy stomach.

They've had raw diets, butternut box, harrintons, millie wolf heart, Barking heads, butchers, nature diet.

All of them they're enthusiastic for a few days then the same shit starts again.

With dry food I have to add warm water and tinned fish to get them to eat.

I'm just so sick of it.

Any advice?

I have a £85 bag of Barking heads they won't touch and I've given them nature diet wet food this morning and it's untouched.

Not more than a day tbh. I just can't do it. I end up making them eggs and chicken or something!

I don't know how to say this kindly but - this is a problem entirely of your own making 🤦🏻‍♀️

Why are you cooking chicken and eggs for them every time they refuse a meal? No wonder they're not bloody eating their own food 😂

It's absolutely not everytime they refuse a meal.

It's if they've gone on a strike and spent days and days just having a nibble of kibble and are throwing up.

I do usually add toppers, fish, ham etc to get them to eat it.

But only in extreme food refusal weeks will. I cook them something out of desperation

You said earlier you cooked for them if they went more than a day without eating Confused

Maybe I misread.

Still, I wouldn't be cooking any human food for them or adding it as toppers. IMO it just encourages fussiness - especially as you know they're more than capable of eating their own food.

Saying that, if they like cooked food why not warm their food up?

@Leafy3 the breaking point should have been when my dinner was beans on toast and he was having M&S dressed crab 😂🤦‍♀️

My dog is like this.
Very, very fussy.
He went 6 days once without eating as he decided what I’d taken on holiday wasn’t to his liking, although he’d eaten it happily before.

I feed him raw, which I put together myself, but he has to have a very fine mince, won’t eat chunks. So I spent £350 on a mincer!

He ate high quality cooked dog food on a holiday once. Great! Wolfed it down, so I purchased more. Refuses to eat it now.

He likes minced raw chicken from the raw shop. But not the chickens I minced for him which were given to me, free of charge.

I have worked out that he will eat more consistently if he has a different protein each meal on a rotation of about 6 - 8.
So fish, pork, beef, pigeon, lamb, hare, rabbit, then back to fish again.
If he has fish, pork, fish, beef, fish, fish he’ll go off the fish completely for months………. I have to label tiny portions of everything to know what he’s had, as he’s a very small dog!!!

I’ve never known a dog like it. And if I put the food down and take it up again he’ll simply starve until he gets something to his liking. And he will get very thin………

My dog is a breed WELL known for stubborn-ness. She got to day 4 or 5 i think before she caved. She eats it or looses it. I put her food down, if she walks away and turns her nose up at it, its gone until her next meal aaaand repeat.

My medium mixes breed dog is a princess. He will only eat small-bite puppy kibble with a little bit of whatever we are eating (safe version of it if it involves garlic/onions/tomatoes etc.). I'm making separate meals some days. Don't be me.

Jesus!

"Not more than a day tbh. I just can't do it. I end up making them eggs and chicken or something!"

Read that again OP
