Any advice/tips on house training an older rescue dog?

Two weeks ago, we adopted a little rescue Lakeland terrier who is approximately 10 yrs old. She is perfect in every way - sweet natured, great with other dogs etc, but isn't house trained. I've read up as much as I can about this. She is taken out at least hourly, rewarded when she does wee or poo outside, but not punished or shouted at if she does it inside. The trouble is, she can be taken out and given ample opportunity to go, but then come in and wee on the rug.
Does anyone have any advice? We adore her and are so happy to give her the forever home she deserves, but are at a bit of a loss here.

It'll take a while, whatever the age of the dog. Our dog was constantly praised and given a treat when he wee'd outside, but it took a while. Our rescue was eight but we spread puppy pads around the house. He'd never lived in a house so needed to learn, 'This is where you wee - this is where you sleep'.

You sound like you're doing everything right, and good on you for taking on that elderly boy 😊

It’s honestly just a case of sticking with it, we got a younger than that but still adult dog the same time as you... and it’s just loads of hanging about outside because he’ll have to go eventually 😂

At least it’s not winter....

Thank you both. Yes I'm very grateful it's summer! We'll keep plodding on!

Keep on going with what you are doing. It takes time. I was always told it takes 6 days to deal with the immediate trauma of moving, 6 weeks to get comfortable and 6 months for them to feel at home.

Just keep at it. She'll get it in the end.

We adopted a 13 year old dog and he kept wazzing in the house. I kept taking him out regularly and now he gets it. He just goes in the garden now.

Oh and take up any rugs she's peeing on. Temporarily.

Try and catch her mid wee , scoop her up and run to the door saying whatever your cue word is ( introduce one if you haven’t already got one ) , it really got the message across with our dog ,
