Any suggestions on how to groom my working cocker spaniel?

Hi all, we cannot afford a regular groomer at the moment so was wondering if there are any suggestions for how we can get her to look a bit more presentable. I have heard of the furminator and someone at daycare had mentioned a stripping knife. Any suggestions would be appreciated thank you!

She's very fluffy! I use a Mars Coat King on my WCS, it strips the hair so make sure you do both sides equally, you'll get loads out to start with.

I use it all over her body and then an oval pin brush for her ears....and a tangle teaser and a knot remover for the back of her ears, I hate her having knots so I always make sure to check behind the ears and get them out before they become a problem.

Great thank you! I’ve just found the one on Amazon and it looks great, how long do the blades last before you need a new one?

I don't think they need changing, each prong is sharp rather than a separate blade, they are amazing, my groomer uses them as well.

Brilliant, I have ordered them, would be good to get the fur off before it gets any hotter! Thank you.

It gets so much fluff out, you comb about four times and then have to empty the prongs! They first time I used mine I got a whole bucket of fur out....it was like another dog!

Check your dogs coat is ok for a furminator first. Probably fine but we have a breed (Samoyed) who regulate their temp using their fur so furminator is never to be used on them. It's probably fine but worth a check

I also highly recommend using a grooming spray to help keep the fur tangle free.

I use a Mars coat king and feathering scissors

I also use canter mane and tail conditioner on my working spans. It's a really good detangler
