Corneal ulcer - how can I make him comfortable?

Poor DDog scratched his cornea rolling in a bush today.

The vet gave me antibiotic drops and a painkiller drop, which I've just given him – but he's so sad and keeps trying to rub his eye on things through the walls of the cone.

Anyone know any good ways of easing things for him while things heal?

(We spent a chunk of this afternoon watching movies on the couch today while I held a cold bag of peas to his face, which seemed to work for a while - he slept for ages after that – but I can't do that for long!)

If you can get some viscotears eye gel, it will lubricate the eye. One of mine has just had similar and I used these alongside her medication.

You need be careful with the timing of other medications to prevent torture pyoblrms.

@Lonecatwithkitten yes must be taken at separate times. At least 30mins between.

I had a corneal ulcer once. It was really painful, much worse in light. Does he have a patch over it to keep it dark?

Our Ddog was in so much pain with a corneal ulcer - but he was given oral painkillers - one dose every 24 hours, plus the antibiotic drops. Within 36 hours he had stopped crying with the drops (😭) and was much brighter. It really knocked him about.

@Howmanysleepsnow he doesn't have a patch, but we've been hanging out in the living room with all the doors and window shutters closed.

The antibiotics seem to be helping now, but he was an absolute shell of himself for the first couple of days.

Poor guy.... 😥
