What is your dog's life story?

I was thinking this morning about what an interesting life my dog has had. He started out as a street dog in Greece. Ended up in a shelter before coming to me. Travelled all over Greece with me living in over 10 different houses/flats including 6 months in a tent! Flew to the UK (via Amsterdam) then travelled across the country. Lived in 5 different homes in the UK.

He's welcomed 2 dc into the family and lasted longer than 2 ex dps. We sadly lost his best mate, an old lab, about 2 years ago. His highlights include getting lost for 12 hours after chasing a plane down the beach, running off with a folding chair attached to him and knocking over market stalls in Athens, and appearing in the background on bbc news!

He's been in my life longer than anyone at this point, and I do love the fluffy little git. Even though he's now 13 years old and definitely entering grumpy old man territory.

I'll attach some pics of him living his best life. I'd love to hear your dog's story.

He's beautiful!

I suspect you might not have many replies as your DDog has had much more of a life than most...

Mine for example was born in a rescue centre in Cyprus so lived in kennels with her Mum and three siblings.

She lived near the RAF base so she doesn't flinch at all when there are loud noises or fireworks because she was used to low flying Chinooks!

Different volunteers would come and walk them each day, one of them was a family from the RAF base.

When they came back to the UK they adopted her and she was flown over to the UK and lived with them for 7 or 8 weeks getting used to living in a home for the first time.

Sadly she and their small children weren't a good match so we adopted her from them (via the original charity) and she came to live with us and our three cats.

And that's it's really - nothing especially exciting for her since then. Just lots of love, snuggles, belly rubs and walks.

Mine was born in Ireland, raced in Waterford and Romford. He was very successful and won a reasonable amount of money for this owner. He was injured on the track and lost form, before being retired at the age of two.

He arrived in our local greyhound trust kennels. As a big black boy, he would have been expected to be there a while- they are the least popular type of dog.

However, we met him soon after he arrived and it was love at first lean. He’s been with us for almost two years. Seen us through Covid, helps me on the worst days of long covid, helped DS through teen traumas. He’s the most loved, best boy.

I have an Irish grey too, also retired at 2 - and she has that exact coat! They really are the best dogs.

We have an Irish grey as well, though ours is a bit more white on her muzzle. They are smashing dogs. Ours raced until she was four and a half, then came to us via the greyhound trust.

Ours rescue collie. We have had her 8 years. Love her. Done approx 18000 miles. Home and away
