Change in behaviour

Our 10yo cocker spaniel has been going to a pet sitter when we are on holidays since lockdown ended. Our older dog died during lockdown and the younger one definitely grieved for a while but returned to his normal happy self after about six months. We have been really happy with the Petsitter, family home with three children and the younger boy seemed to dote on our dog and I know had him in his bedroom. We dropped him off for five nights recently and I saw for the first time that there was another, smaller, dog there as well as the family Labrador who has always been there with our dog. Happy stay, Petsitter sent photos of our dog on walks, chilling out beside her etc. but he has been a bit funny since he got home. He usually has a biscuit in the morning for breakfast which he eats straight away, now he carries it around in his mouth for half an hour and often only eats it on his morning walk. He seems a bit more needy and often will only sleep on our daughter’s bed rather than in his ow bed but that is something he often does if DH and I are away. I don’t think these behaviour changes are particularly sinister, he is otherwise happy, tail wagging a lot, not off his food etc. but DH thinks I need to take him to the vet urgently as there is “clearly something seriously wrong”. I have made a vet appointment but think DH is over thinking it, would love others’ opinions.

It sounds like the dynamics changed maybe your dog had to share food and attention for the first time.

Are you in the UK? Is your boarder licensed and insured as necessary?
