Not sure what option to go for.

We have a springer so she is very active and needs lots of exercise and lead walking just isn't enough for her. We therefore went with the keyhole surgery as although it is more expensive, it is a quicker recovery time so she can go back to running around like a loon. We also thought she would be a nightmare trying to get at her stitches so this seemed like the best option for her. I am very glad we went with keyhole and the recovery was very quick. I would say it depends on your circumstances and your particular dog. If you have a very active dog and can afford to, I would recommend the keyhole.

Keyhole is much quicker recovery time.

We have a vizsla and they’re very lively dogs. We opted for regular spaying and experienced no issues. We’ve had four dogs spayed over the years and it’s never been problematic.

I would always opt for keyhole as it's less invasive.

My 2 labs had keyhole spay. I don't think they even noticed anything had happened and less pressure to keep them calm after.

I have a very anxious and high energy Australian kelpie. She was spayed on Friday. She's rested over the weekend, lighter exercise yesterday but from today back to normal.

From a spay perspective key hole doesn't remove the womb, just the ovaries. The vet advised us to go key hole, and said that for the female cancers to appear, the ovaries are needed so in theory by living the womb in situ there's a chance of female cancer, it's actually highly unlikely because the ovaries have been removed.

We were advised to do key hole because she's so frightened of being at the vet, so the surgery, wound and recovery would all be easier for her to cope with.

Also she has a dog shirt instead of a cone, again better for her anxiety.
