This will be my first dog-I WFH with a garden and have plenty of love to give to my new puppy. I have done lots of research but I do still feel nervous! Do you have any tips to offer me?

He’s a working cocker and will be worked to the gun, classes are lined up for when he’s fully jabbed

Hallelujah a WCS doing what it is supposed to do! So many have behavioural issues/hyper etc because they are bored!
They need a job to do so you are doing the right thing.

@Wineandrun you will get sleep eventually! Our cocker started sleeping from 10pm to 7.30am quite early on. Hang in there! I echo what a previous poster said - they do not know how to switch off, so definitely important to teach settle or enforce some crate time. Sounds like you're doing a fab job though!

oh they are fabulous dogs - defo need a job though! Even if that is finding their toy in a heap of mud or obedience/flyball etc

We are considering a cocker for our next dog, but not sure if I am up to the bonkers working needs yet!

What i will say with any breed (spans are prone to S.a), leave them from day 1, even for 10 minutes. Ideally crate train. go out.

Taking 2 weeks off work IMO is insaine. They are use to you then being there and you then suddenly go back to work. Few days but still go out - yes absolutely we did that last year with our youngest DDog.
Never had an issue since -but crate trained!
