What do you do about the mass amounts of shedding?

I have a mit that I use to brush her with but it's not helping.

There's black hair EVERYWHERE.

Please send suggestions.

It's a good job she's bloody cute!

We need a picture of cute lab, or they don’t exist.

Gorgeous!

Our lab doesn't shed much. I got a grooming rake and it was a very disappointing experience.

The furminator creates a new Labrador, they’re brilliant, you’d literally think you had another dog with what comes out!

DiscoBeat · 13/04/2023 21:41

I feel your pain! I'm hoovering twice a day at the moment for one Lab and he looks no less fluffy!

DiscoBeat · 13/04/2023 21:42

Ditto the Furminator too - although it's quite 'raky' and he gets a bit bothered by by it. Peanut butter on a garden table leg helps!

For our very hairy and moulty GSD she has a professional twice yearly strip of the undercoat at the groomers, more undercoat removal also done by us at home using a Furminator and then also daily brushing with a softer rubber brush so keep her coat healthy and grab any extra loose hairs. These are great for that https://www.dfordog.co.uk/kong-zoom-groom-dog-brush.html

Buy a groomi and use it twice a week. Best £20 I've spent. I've got a lab too and the hair was everywhere, it's seriously reduced the amount of fly away hair coming off him and I'm only hoovering once a day instead of 2.

Get a Roomba, one of those rubber glove brushes and learn to embrace the little tumbleweeds of fur drifting around Grin

The suggestion to shave your Labrador is really bad advice - you could cause serious damage to their coat and skin!

Alongside the more sensible grooming suggestions, get yourself a rubber sweeping brush to sweep up afterwards as this will gather far more of the shed hairs than a normal one and remove it really well from carpets. Look on eBay for the single piece handle extra strong broom (around a tenner) and a smaller dustpan one for crevices/stairs.
