Really high Insurance quote for next year

Dog insurance is £69 a month already (it was £45 last year and then went up to £69 for no reason). Dog is a Grand Bassett Griffon Vendeen (a pedigree hound) so there's a lot of knowledge about potential hip issues when older. Dog at present is only just turned 4 and healthy, never had any major problems. And ManyPets now want £101 a month!

I cannot justify paying that, it's ridiculous and they haven't even responded to my query asking for a breakdown of the rise. It is however a lifetime policy and has £15K cover a year and I've not found anything even close to it.

I've had quotes from Tesco (£39.44 on a 12 month plan up to £10K cover), but I'm worried that they could cancel us in 12 months?

Direct Line quoted £37 a month for £8K cover on their premium policy but I can't work out if that's a 12 month policy or it just carries on?

I need to make a decision but any help gratefully received.

I need to make a decision.

Issue is no vets here will take pre authorise etc you have to physically pay out first then submit a claim

The unfortunate truth is I can't find 3/4000 even £1500 be pushing it but could stretch to it So seemed daft paying for insurance when I still have to find the money first

Was why I took out insurance for years knowing I could not afford thousands upfront was only when I checked with vets did I find out needed to pay first and have phoned several within 70 miles and all same here

So I'm better of putting the money away that would pay each month now especially
Given they won't cover any of his limbs and the % has gone up as well

Our local vet would preauthorise through PetPlan, it was one of the reasons I went with them.

I stopped insuring when the premiums went up and up . I do have enough money to cover any eventuality they may need . I think only you know your finances and if you could afford surgeries from savings then cancel the insurance and put the money away for when you may need it . If you can't
afford surgeries then keep with the insurance. It's a difficult call because pet insurance is no longer an incidental cost , it's expensive.
