We said goodbye to our boy tonight, handhold please

He is 10 so an old man, he's an Old English Sheep Dog. I got him as a rescue 6 years ago. We have been through so so much together. He has been quite poorly the last few weeks, very bloated, wouldn't eat and could hardly move. It was so unlike him, he was the most friendliest gentle giant who loved a cuddle!
We took him to the vet as an emergency tonight and they said he had heart failure. The nicest thing to do was to let him sleep or he would have either had a heart attack or stopped breathing within a few weeks.
I am absolutely heart broken, I am so glad my partner was with me. Our DD's (2&4) asked where he was when we got back, so they think he is still with the Dr right now, I didn't have the heart to tell them tonight.
I'm sorry for rambling, I just needed to tell someone.

Oh my, similar story, our boy went into heart failure on Christmas Eve, he’s been medicated, back and forth to the vet since, we took him to the vet Thursday as he was so poorly, really bloated, I sat on the floor with him while he was put to sleep, my lovely dog who was such a good boy 😢it’s hard isn’t it x

Monty you are such a handsome boy. It’s so awful when we have to say goodbye to our beautiful friends. 💔

Monty was such a beautiful boy and so very lucky to have found you to love and look after him for the last six years. You did the best and kindest thing you could by being strong enough to say goodbye.

What a beautiful boy. I'm so sorry. I know that feeling sadly too well. I try to comfort myself by knowing the depth of pain in losing them is equal to the depth of love we gave them, and that means they were so loved.
