Anxiety in dogs

I have a spreagle (spaniel & beagle mix) he turned 1 this month. He is a lovely dog, however, he is so anxious. We have had him since 8 weeks and has never gone through any type of trauma or abuse. He is a very loved dog, I was grooming him myself until recently as he won't sit still, I thought it would be better to take him to a groomers. The groomer was lovely and did exactly what I asked. My issue was when I got there he was full on shaking. He wouldn't take treats of her ( he's a pig his fav thing is food). When we got home he just sat on me we had cuddles and he fell asleep for quite a while. He was very traumatised from being at the groomers. He is an anxious dog, he won't let people stroke him if he doesn't no them etc. so I new yesterday would be stressful I just didn't realise how much. Is there anything I can do to help him? He is socialised, loves meeting new dogs and is around people when we go for walks.

They often shake when dropped at the groomers and settle down once you're gone. Mine do that and my groomer sent me videos of them playing quite happily during their time there. They are liars. :-)

As far as general anxiety, watch your reactions when they are exposed. If you go to comfort them each time they get nervous instead of just carrying on, they will learn to be anxious. This was rightly pointed out to me when I did it when we had a new pup
