Dryer

Does anyone have recommendations for a dog dryer please? I've seen some of the £50 specials on Amazon, but would be interested to hear from anyone that actually has one, and what they think of it please?

Thanks in advance.

A towel and a bit of a blast with the hairdryer? Maybe I'm just old school...

I am just on the towel at the moment 😂

The pet dryers are higher velocity and help with de-shedding (apparently). Better heat control too. Hence was curious about real world experience. Towel doing a fabulous job to be fair though.

I've used one at the DIY dog grooming place we go to. It's fab and really helps our collie shed the dead coat. The professional ones are pretty expensive but you can often pick them up secondhand.

I know plenty of people that use the type of dryer you mention on eBay and they are fine. I have two dryers - a chris Christensen Mighty Mouse which is similar to the one on eBay but more expensive and a professional stand dryer by Shernbao which gives full control speed heat, height and angle. Had both for over 5 yrs not missed a beat. I guess it depends what sort of coat you have. Mine are both long coats so these tools are essential for me. I use the stand dryer as my main dryer. The small one I use when travelling - it has far less control. They are an investment but I do all my own grooming so they've paid for themselves many times over.

Thank you all.

Useful to know about personal experiences. Mine is a labrador so actually quite easy, but since he loves water, I need to hose him down regularly and whilst his coat is relatively easy to dry, a quick blast with a dryer would be useful.

I'll probably give one of the ebay ones a go and report back.

Have he ever had a blow dry? Not all dogs are keen on hair dryers. I introduced my dog very gently to the whole concept over several weeks. She now sits on the bed whilst I dry my own hair and loves having her hair ruffled by the warm air.
Fortunately she likes being blow dried as he hair takes ages to dry and she would get very cold.

We have a gravitas one. It’s used most days on 3 dogs and works great. I had one problem with it and the company sent me out a replacement part next day delivery.
It’s brilliant for blasting out undercoat and drying legs after walks.

All of mine love it, they push eachother out of the way to get done first 😄

I have found microfiber towels dry much faster than a cotton towel. Also use an old "human" hairdryer on low. My dog has grown to enjoy it, thankfully!

@StopGo - yes, he has been to the groomer and gets on well with their dryer.

@Leonberger - I'll look for that make. Drying off after muddy walk is exactly what I'm after.

@Bananadramallamas - good thinking. I forgot about microfiber.
