Retriever feeding

Hi all,
Any advice or input would be appreciated.
My retriever is nearly 3, has been fed kibble since day 1, mostly lamb based kibble as chicken or beef tends to make his skin very dry.

He became what I can only assume is bored of his kibble and refused to eat it for a period of time, so we added in cans of fish (tuna or sardines etc) which he would then eat.
We switched his kibble to a fish based brand to give him a change and he won't eat it.

I've resorted to just cooking mountains of rice and serving him that with half a can of fish (in oil, not brine) and then may throw in some boiled egg or spinach

My question is, is it wise to keep going with the tinned fish and rice? Is this nutritionally enough for him or do I need to start looking at other options. I have tried pouring fish oil over his kibble and he won't eat it

Any advice is much appreciated
Thank you

Couldn't you just give him the tins of fish with the fish biscuits? I doubt a dog will get everything it needs to be healthy from just rice and fish.

Can you try him on wet food instead or try some other brands of kibble maybe with a higher meat content. Mine will only show interest in kibble when it is scattered in the garden. Could you try that?

My retriever can’t eat chicken/poultry either and is quite fussy. (Our old retriever wasn’t fussy at all)

he has lamb and rice food with a bit of meat mashed in, he gets large breed as he seems to eat that better. It’s difficult as it gets expensive, we had him on fish food initially but he went off it too. It’s hard work
