Hypoallergenic dog food from vets - any experience with dog allergies?

Cockerpoo, has allergies, we don't know to what. She's on apoquel. Vet has said to give her Purina hypoallergenic food for 6 weeks. She's a fussy eater at times anyway.

I'm not sure how well this is going to go down, and she also spends her days at In laws who like to cook up and feed her 'nice' things...and are strugling to accept this doesn't really fit with the new diet.

Any tips for this?

one of our two senior dogs was intermittently throwing up after meals.

our vet recommended boiling chicken with rice.

we cook in bulk & freeze tiny portions ( as we feed breakfasts & dinner)
this stopped her throwing up after meals

then we slowly added dog biscuits ( chicken & rice flavoured) for seniors
so now it’s mainly dog biscuits plus small amount chicken & rice

Our mini dachshunds love it & no more throwing up

My Lab is sensitive to chicken which made him very itchy and his poo very soft. He's on a salmon and rice kibble now with no issues. But your in-laws need to get a grip. And dogs eat what they are given, so eventually your dog will adjust to your choices. They won't starve themselves to death.
