Golden retriever puppy advice?

Hi, I have a golden retriever puppy that is just over 5 months old. His eating well, playing, growing, everything perfect but I'm not sure if his peeing or drinking too much as his my first puppy and my OH thinks I'm being over the top worrying puppy mum! He goes all through the night from 10pm until 7am without weeing but during the day he goes around 45 minutes to an hour. He does his toilet on the mats and only has the odd accident when we get visitors due to excitement but when I have looked after my friends dogs in the past they go a good a good 3-4 hours without peeing so I'm not sure if I should be worried or not? Has anyone got this breed?

He's only young - I think that's still pretty normal but maybe on the frequent side. I would speak to the vet if you're worried.

When you say mats do you mean puppy pads? If so, they're designed to encourage them to pee in those places so you may find he goes less if he just goes outside.

That seems a lot of weeing during the day. How often do you walk him and how often does he ho out for a wee?

We got some spray from the pet shop when he was a young puppy and we sprayed this on the puppy pads which were near the door (at first he weed on the pads then when he went near the pads we opened the patio doors and also sprayed a fenced off hard paved area of the garden and took him out to that area on the lead and praised him when he wee’d there.

I would take the pads away, transition to going outside. This should mean he holds his wees for longer, it should discourage constant bladder emptying. We never used pads, our boy was fully trained by 14 weeks and only had one accident which was sea water related 💀
If he is still wanting to go out and urinate constantly I would make an appointment with the vet as that is very frequent. General rule is an hour for each month of age. If he is going more often than every 5 hours then it could be a health issue (kidneys) or could be behavioural (hence the suggestion to transition from pads)
