Dog keeps weeing in the house

I have Bichon Frise /Shih Tzu . He's 8 months old. He pees outside and inside. I do put pee pads out at night time. I put a few out. He will pee on them when he feels to then he will just pee where ever. He does know to ask to go out as he paws the door.and does pee outside.

I know pee pads probably give him the message to say he can pee inside. Which is fine if he pees only on the pads. But he pees on the pad ( and) all over the place I had to clean up 3 pees this morning and throw my sons bag away.

The reason I do the pads at night time is because I go to bed at 10pm and then the dog is let out 6.45 am. And I think that's a bit long for him to wait ?

On my other post on chat ( I reposted as did not realise there was a dog house) they said to remove the pads . But then I'm thinking it will be even worse as there will be more wee to clean . And my house is gonna smell and my flooring ruined again. I have only been here 9 months and had to replace all the downstairs carpets.

I also have a 4 year old female German shepherd.

Any advice/suggestions would be great.

Is there anything I can spray /put down to discourage the peeing. I do see things on amazon but I don't know if that's just a money making thing or if worth buying

Thank you

Pads confuse dogs. He thinks he can pee in the house. Plus the pads are impregnated with a scent to attract the dog to pee, and their amazing noses pick it up in the room. You have a confused young dog and need to go back to basics.

I think there are three main things you can change here.

1 - Get rid of the pads. As you say, all they do is teach the dog that it's acceptable to pee in the house. Just go cold turkey and chuck them in the bin.
2 - If he can't hold it all night, you'll need to start getting up and taking him when he wakes up, or change your routine so that you go to bed later/get up earlier. He should be able to hold it at that age but it may well take a few nights of practise as he's so used to having access to the pads.
3 - You need an enzyme spray like Simple Solution to clean up all his accidents. I would also limit his space when you're not present so that if he does pee, it's on a hard floor (like lino or tile) so it's much easier to clean up.

Good luck!

Do what the previous poster says. You need to get rid of the wee smell from inside the house, clean any subsequent accidents thoroughly and use the enzyme spray.

But also praise your dog when he goes in the right place. Put the puppy pads outside rather than binning immediately maybe, to help reinforce that this is where to go.

We just got a puppy recently and i woke up with here every couple hours and took her outside to wee at night. Every 2h for the first few nights, just like day time then every 3h etc. Our girl is a small dog too. Shes 5 Months now and can hold from 11pm til 8am. If she needs to go sooner she barks and wakes us up.
