Foxes under cabin in our garden - how dangerous are they? And how do we get rid of them??

Hi

A pair of foxes have managed to dig through the chicken wire and are happily ensconced in the large empty space beneath our cabin (built like this to protect our three poplar trees).

Two questions

  1. How dangerous are they to our little dachshund who loves going down to the end of the garden?
  2. How do we get rid of them?? (Then we'll install more robust chicken wire defences so they can't come back)

And when I say get rid of them I only mean move them on, so that the end of our garden doesn't become "their territory" to protect.

Thanks!

They reek, unfortunately- their urine and faeces stink to high heaven and they’re messy fuckers.

Are you writing about men or foxes?

There are distinct similarities between the two. Grin

We have a little fox under our shed and a mad terrier, he goes ballistic every morning trying to get the fox. Bizarrely we are the only one on our stretch with a dog so why the fox choose our garden is a mystery. But the fox is scared so I am not concerned about the safety of my dog

I would try to move them on before they drop their little bundles of joy or your garden is going to be full of fox shit. My dog caught pink eye last year from rolling in it. It’s not feasible to only let him in the garden in a lead so we had to check the garden each time we let him out as the adults came out in the day too.

I'm dreading the return of cub season as this year I’ll have a toddler and if our garden is full of fox shit again then she won’t be able to enjoy being outside.
