Outdoor ramp needed for garden steps for arthritic lab - any suggestions?

Hi

DDog has to go up 3 steps outside back door up to the lawn to wee and poo. He won’t do it on the slabs.

He seems to be increasingly reluctant to go up the steps and I guess this will only get worse with age.

I’ve been googling and there are loads of car ramps available but can anyone please point me in the direction of suitable outdoor ones?

Thank you

What are you googling for? Most diy stores sell garden ramps or wheelchair ramps in various sizes. You need to know the height of your steps, if you have a pet ramp for the car that's adjustable it may be fine on the steps too. They aren't essentially different products. Bless him, our lab lost mobility for the last few months of her life and we just improvised with some planks to enable her to get up and down steps, provided humans aren't using them too, you anchor them in place and the dog isn't too heavy that should be safe also.

Oh ok thanks - I’ll pop go B&Q to take a look.

I was googling for something sturdy / non slip specifically made for outside, but came up with nothing. Lots of things for cars and indoors though!

Ours was made to order from Archie's Workshop.

Really brilliant service. They mainly make indoor ramps but can do outdoor too.

I would look at disability suppliers rather than dog. You can definitely get outdoor ramps.

Poor dog! Arthritis can be so debilitating. Also worth a vet check and discussion of different meds, treatments (acupuncture) etc.

Great suggestions - thank you!

The only issue with getting ramps for human disability is that they are usually wheel chair friendly and have a smooth surface which is obviously easier to push a wheel chair on. However a smooth surface is hard for a dog to walk on.

It might be worth contacting canine arthritis management They do have dog ramps but see if they have anything better suited
