Chew proof bed

If anyone has any recommendations I'd love to hear them! Lab puppy is wonderful but has made short work of 2 beds now by ripping and chewing.
Since the last one bit the dust she's now in a plastic bed with cushions (which are lasting surprisingly well) but is there an actual non chew bed out there?

HiK9 have been fab for mine, had 2 years so far.

I found vetbed to not get chewed. I think it's too fluffy. I am on Labrador number three and still have vetbed from more than thirty years ago!

Tuffies. Not cheap but they’re an investment, quality is amazing.

Wolfiefan · 26/12/2022 15:38

We use vetbed until the chewing stops.

WeAllHaveWings · 26/12/2022 15:43

Vetbed here too until chewing phase stops. Our chewed until they around 18 months. He chewed vetbed too but it was at least cheaper to replace.

How does vetbed work, is it like a carpet? Soft enough to use on its own?

Agreed! Our two year old lab destroyed several soft beds. We got him the chew proof Tuffie which he had for several months and we then sold it for about 80% of the original price as they are snapped up on eBay (it was really easy to clean and still looked as new, they are brilliant quality) and used the money towards a Tuffies step in nest bed which he loves. Looking back now, he just wasn't ready for a "soft" bed but now he's out of the worst of the teenage behaviours he is good as gold and very gentle with soft furnishings generally. They are expensive but I'm really, really glad I got him one. Tuffies sometimes have a sale/end of line section where you could save some £.

We used Vet Bed throughout his first two years (I've replied above as well) in his crate which he still loves as a den to have a time out in with the door open and he does generally prefer to sleep in there at night - cut to size like carpet and you can wash it in the machine (we put it in a horse blanket washing bag thing to stop the hairs clogging up the machine).

It's now sat on top of one of these bolster beds www.dogdreamer.co.uk/product-page/waterproof-dog-bolster-bed-various-sizes-colours-6 like the princess and the pea because I want him to be all comfy and out of and possible draft (yes, I spoil him a little)

Mine had a lovely memory foam bed for Christmas one year, in his crate and by Boxing Day morning he had shredded it!
I made a large pillow shaped cover out of a old cotton quilted bedspread stuffed it with the memory foam and no issues as he obviously couldn't smell the foam.
He has now upgraded to a new pillow made with the jumbo corduroy fabric and old sofa cushion.
They also have a old sofa cushion recovered with jumbo cord again downstairs to lounge on.

Thanks all!!
Strangely she has no issue with the large, corduroy pillows in her crate bed, but the beds we've bought for daytime/the living room have been destroyed. I hadn't realised the fabric might make a difference!

The only bed that works for my working gsd is a hik9 raised bed. He can rip up vet bedding with no problems.

sparkiesparkle · 27/12/2022 15:43

The only thing mine hasn't ripped up is his puppy blankets. Made of fleece. He just licks them
