Any great dog walks / dog friendly places in South Manchester?

Does anyone have any any great dog walks / other dog friendly places to go in Manchester? We're in Gatley but can drive to other places.

Just got our Aussie pup, we're first time dog owners. We're not out and about yet as we're waiting on imms. We haven't explored the outdoors very much in our local area so would appreciate some recommendations.

We love a walk around Fletcher Moss, anywhere with access to coffee and a cake is my kinda place!

Chorlton has a big park up by the cem on Mauldeth Road
Didsbury
Dunham Massey
Stamford Park in Hale
john Leigh park Altrincham
Tatton Park
Lyme Park in Stockport

all places I loved walking my dog when I lived in that neck of the woods

We live well north of Manchester, but some years have had a season ticket for Arley Hall - lovely gardens, and very dog friendly (dog icecream in season alongside the tea and cakes). I think it was our late dog's favourite place on earth.

Platt fields is surprisingly varied for a smallish urban park.
Bramhall park is lovely
Mersey vale nature reserve has some nice woods and not far from didsbury for coffee
Reddish vale is huge
Werneth Low has loads of great walks around it
Etherow Woods (can walk feom
Werneth low or vice versa if you don’t mind a hill)
Macclesfield forest
Stalybridge country park (I’d make sure your dog is rock solid with livestock as there’s often horse riders)
Broadoak park in Worsley, the main path is an old train line which gets rammed but the woods around it are lovely and often quiet

Oooh thanks so much for all of these!
So looking forward to visiting some.

Drive a bit further and go up Rivington Pike, you’ll love it !
Theres loos and a cafe opposite the car park.

Agree with all of whiskeypowers' list and would add Hulmes Wood in Denton/Tameside.

Styal wood is not a million miles from you.

If you don't mind driving up to Wigan, Borsdane Woods in Hindley is brilliant. Long walk in a tree covered valley alongside a river and you can let your dogs off lead. Amberswood, also in Hindley is really lovely too. 3 Sisters is a great place to walk around too.

OP Styal is lovely - lots of woodland to explore and once pup is older you can walk all the way to Wilmslow through the Carrs Park beside the River Bollin. Great for dogs.
Styal has a nice cafe in the grounds but even better is the community cafe and shop in the village opposite the Ship Inn. Run by residents who volunteer and came together to save their local shop from closing down. Nice indoor and outdoor seating and dogs welcome.

And similarly if you go to Bramhall Park, the cafe in the walled garden is nice but walk a little further to the Little Hideout in North Park Road for great panini and delicious cakes.
