Food allergy?

I'm after other people's experiences. Is there anyone here who's dog turned out to have an allergy to one or several of the ingredients of their food, despite their poop being absolutely perfect?
Our dog started scratching and biting herself a few weeks ago (despite up-to-date flea treatment and no insects visible on her mostly white coat). It started with an itchy ear (gave her drops for that), then itchy left side of face, then itchy body, foot and legs. Vet said she seems to be allergic to something, either environmental or food/laundry detergent etc. Used Piriton for a few days, only slight improvement. We did change her food about a month before the itching started. For the first time since we got her 2.5 years ago, we've found a food that she likes and that at the same time does not give her any diarrhoea. Her poop has never been this healthy and perfect looking! Nothing else has changed as far as I remember. How likely do you think it is due to the change in food?

My young dog was very itchy and he turned out to be sensitive to chicken. But his poo was also quite soft.

It could be the food - but also it could just be that now is when it’s shown up.

My last dog started reacting at about that age, after testing it turned out to be a dust mite allergy.

Allergy that flares up the autumn or winter is most commonly to house dust mites - years of allergy testing and treating allergic dogs has taught me this. Trial house dust mite control washing beds every three days, freezing soft toys once a week for 24 hours use house hood spray that controls dust mites.

It could also be environmental. Lots of moulds at this time of year. Try washing paws/legs after every walk for a while.

Oh that's interesting, thank you both!
