Harringtons subscription constantly out of stock, what other brand is similar?

AllotPlot · 27/11/2022 14:53

I've had a Harrington's subscription for a few years - 48 x 400g grain free meals delivered every 6 weeks for £45.

For months I've been getting out of stock emails and now it looks like they won't send an alternative for the same price. The only option I seem to have is to take out a new subscription at almost £10 more so I'm trying to find another brand that is similar to Harringtons.

Any suggestions would be appreciated thanks

Sorry, I meant to add wet food - chicken, Beef, Salmon, Turkey, Duck etc

We had this and switched to the meat option (ie. no fish). Is that an option?

GuyFawkesDay · 27/11/2022 16:38

Try pooch and mutt.

You can trial it from pets at home but if you use a subscription you get 22% off, then add code Max30 for another 30% off.

You build loyalty points and I regularly get another £5/10 off my subscription.

They have a few varieties of wet food. My lad can't have chicken now so he can only have the fish and the turkey and duck but he's had all of them in the past and wolfed them down.

He likes fish but a meat option would be fine as I can give him a piece of fish every few days. From what I'm seeing on the website though, that option would still be almost £10 more than my current sub.

I'll go check them out, thanks.

We pay £22.95 for three boxes of the meat one, which is 18 trays and that lasts him nearly two months (we mix it with the kibble and he gets 1/3 of a tray a day).

The other one is £17.85 for 16 trays, so £5 less for 2 less trays, which seems reasonable to me?

This option works out at £53.55 for 48 trays whereas I was getting 48 trays for £45 on my current sub. This feeds him for 4 weeks.

I had a look at Pooch and Mutt, they are way out of my budget.

I think I probably just have to get a cheaper brand.

The www.allaboutdogfood.co.uk website may be helpful? It has a price per meal thing on it (could be helpful as some food needs bigger portions)

And maybe look at james wellbeloved? I think that brand is a similar price point/quality.

Blimey, that's an expensive way to feed your dog!

Why not mix the wet food with some biscuits and make it last longer?

amprev · 27/11/2022 22:43

I hate the pooch and mutt packaging anyway - from memory it's in boxes that are hard to open and the contents were very slimy. Would forthglade be an option? Similar to Harrington I think.

uncomfortablydumb53 · 27/11/2022 23:00

Forthglade Around the same price and good protein content

allboysherebutme · 27/11/2022 23:07

I use canagan my fussy dog loves it. X

TranquilBlue · 27/11/2022 23:40

When I was researching food for my new pup, Forthglade and Harringtons seemed very similar in price and quality.

Yeah, I know it's expensive and I could just about afford it but can't stretch to the extra they are looking for. Kibble gives him issues so that won't work.

Thanks, I had a look. They are slightly more expensive than Harringtons.

They are very similar but more expensive that my current sub that is out of stock. I'm assuming they are calling it "out of stock" t rather than saying we can't do that price anymore. It's been months but they don't seem to have low stock on the smaller boxes at higher price.

We used to use Harringtons, then switched to Forthglade, but have now just switched again to Nature's Deli. I get it delivered but can't remember how much - I think about £40 for 28 trays, which lasts 2 months as he has 1/2 tray every evening, and kibble for breakfast.

namechange27352 · 28/11/2022 03:19

i use step up from pets at home, as harringtons was sold out its exactly the same price similar content protein etc
