Travelling with tiny dog

Sorry this is a bit jumbled im tired. Soon I have to travel all day and ill be staying somewhere else for up to two months. Ill be taking the dog in our old babies pram so she can curl up in a little cave and cant see whats going on or she gets too nervous. Shes only small. Im by no means going to pretend she isnt a dog, im not going to try and sneak her around pretending shes a baby or to get priority or anything. She cant go in a carrier for more than long periods she hates it but shes fine in the bassinet. Shes never liked travelling and doesnt eat so thats an issue. Shes used to a few hours journey in the car but this time there will be a lot of walking about in various cities and catching trains. Dont get me wrong we're booking ones with a lot of space. And i cant just leave her with anyone so judging me isnt really an option were all doing the best we can. What are the best ways to keep them as calm as possible in that environment? Ill obviously let her out for wees and we'll take breaks. I dont want her really suffering and i want a way to get her to eat.

TIA

Oooh, sounds difficult. Could you provide a little bit more info? It sounds like she’s potentially anxious/nervous maybe? You say you can’t leave her with anyone - is there a specific reason for that? Are you just concerned about her not eating for the journey or are you concerned about her settling in the new location for the time you’re there?

Yes shes a nervous dog. Not around us but the outside world makes her very distressed. I cant leave her with anyone because shes only used to us and doesnt like other people. Getting her down there is important but as you say so is settling in so i could do with advice for both. Thanks

Ddog goes on the train, he seems to like it, never had any issues, he is just on a lead

Well I’m no expert, hopefully someone with more knowledge will be along soon, but it sounds like this is a one off situation so approach may be different to if it was an ongoing long term issue you were trying to deal with. Sounds like you e just got to get through the journey first and foremost. Have you ever tried, or considered, Adaptil claiming collars? Or possibly YuMove Calming Care - I’m not sure but I think it’s the kind of thing that needs a build up to be optimised so might be worth looking at as soon as possible rather than wait til you go.

Be prepared for your dog to want to sit on your lap on the train instead of the pram - mine certainly prefers to, and he's not normally much of a lapdog
