How much walking do you do?

I have ddog who is 1.5 years old (a cross breed). Tuesday to Thursday he is walked every morning for 40 minutes, lunch time 45 minutes to an hour and then 45 minutes to an hour again the the evening.

Friday to Monday he goes less walks, but much, much longer. 2-3 hours long for one walk, and also a short 20-30 minute walk.

Overall, do you think that's enough?

Getting up to mischief could be if he's not able to wind down properly or not enough mental stimulation, or not enough sleep.

Sounds like a good amount of exercise to me! Far too many unfit dogs around nowadays. But you might find adding in more brainwork helps with the "mischief" 🤣 Could be anything! Trick training, Nosework, anything you can do with them is good stuff. Do More With Your Dog have lists of tricks if you need inspiration.

Even just hiding treats around the house or garden is a good game so start with. He'll learn to search and hunt using his nose and that can keep him busy for ten minutes or more and he might even chill out after. Wink

That's like full blown athletic training, if you want to keep that up amazing, but your dog will expect it all the time.. they need some lazy days like kids!

We have a pack of lazy dogs, they have land to explore, each other, sniffs, chews, games, toys and are able to 100% chill out on wet rainy days and skip a walk.

I walk 45 minutes in a morning. Sometimes we do thirty minutes in the evening but often we don't. Bella is 13, a lhasa apso and makes it very obvious when she isn't up for a second walk. She refuses less when it's warm and light so it seems she doesn't like the cold and dark.

Fifteen minutes round the block first thing.
About an hour walking at some point during the morning or early afternoon.
Ten minutes after their supper.

Plus half an hour intensive training - obedience, scent work, target touching, retrieves.

He's a year old Labrador.

Ok, I'll look into brain training. I sometimes give him a loo roll tube with treats hidden in it, but thanks for the tips on where to go for ideas. I can definitely get better at that.

I originally posted because I felt guilty about him having less long walks Tuesday to Thursday, but sounds like I'm being silly about that.

He sleeps from 8pm to 7am, and also most of the morning after his walk.

Your brain games don’t have to be inside. I sometimes replace our lunch walk with brain games- and just go into the woods or a local field and hide objects out for them to find. Or do a training session. If your dog is quite well trained to the voice try training in hand signals for example- as the try to figure out what you want it becomes mentally tiring.
