New puppy and son’s bully dog

My daughter’s dog is lovely with people and children but she picks on other dogs, for apparently no reason. I want her to get on with our new puppy. Does anyone have any ideas for getting them off on the right paw? Thanks.

That should have read DIL’s dog because the dog is really hers. Tricky?

Just don't put them together. Has any of the dogs had training?
Do they stop the dog from bullying?

Go for walks together where the emphasis is on fun stuff, not each other or ‘territory’

You can't make dogs get along.

Some dogs just don't like other dogs and prefer their own company or the company of humans. That's fine.

But other dogs are badly socialised and basically don't understand when to piss off lol.

So when you say she "picks on other dogs" - what do you mean? Does she approach them and pester them? Or do they not listen to her body language which is screaming "go away, I'm uncomfortable"?

The former - well, it's down to the owners to control. She shouldn't be approaching unknown dogs and causing a nuisance. If it's the latter, then it's other owners that need to control their dogs.

Some dogs are just not great with puppies. I think go for walks to get them used to each other.

They don’t need to be together until the puppy is properly established as a family member. How often do you see your son/daughter’s dog?
