Has anyone done this, was the heat too much? We would have air con in the accomodation and car....
Weighing up what to do...

Depends on the dog. I’ve taken a cocker and a small, long snouted breed to France in summer. Up to 40C. They were fine.
We did lots of swimming, resting, kept them off the tarmac and air con in the car.
I wouldn’t take an elderly or a very flat nosed breed unless they had time to acclimatise.

We took our 2 yr old border terrier to France this summer - some days it was 40 degrees. We have a camper so air con while travelling , awning up to provide shade, walks done early or late and if she got a bit panty then dowsing her head and torso with water. We were away 6 weeks and she was fine - went again in early Autumn but more like 20 degrees and again all fine

Yes....I was in a camper, no aircon. I left after three weeks because it was unbearably hot for her. I did find one campsite that had a lake with a designated dog beach, which was great, but at the coast I got thrown off even though she was on a lead, so very difficult to cool her off.

We ended up walking very early morning then hiding under trees for most of the day until it was safe to venture out.

We had temperatures over forty this summer but it's not a problem at home, she preferred to stay indoors on the tiled floor.
