Healthiest dog breeds

Now we know that French bulldogs have a short life span and we know that all the flat face breeds struggle and shouldn't be bred from for clear ethical reasons, which dogs are the healthiest, throw me the researched facts or tell me what breed your dog is/was and how long they lived for? One day we will get a dog and I want our buddy for as long as possible whilst also suitable for our lifestyle.

I've got two 13 year old shih tzus showing no sign of decline! I've had them 8 years, adopted them from a rescue place when they were 5. Splendid little dogs. My childhood best friend was a dog we took in off the streets, she was a puppy. Alsation cross type mongrel. Best dog ever. Died at 16 of old age. Still miss her now, 40 years later!

I used to have Cavaliers, despite the usual heart problems they lived until 12 and 15.

I have three middle aged mutts now and they have no health issues at all.

My sighthound was super healthy. Lived to a ripe old age.

But clumsy. He wasn't cheap to keep. He kept the vets busy with torn claws from charging about, cutting his legs and tail charging into and through things. Getting grass seeds extracted from his ears.

I'd have another in a heartbeat. But animals are expensive.

Border collie lived to sixteen, she was a rescue and are grapes every day as her treat. Cocker spaniel lived to twenty and he was not a rescue. Also ate chocolate buttons every day.
cocker spaniels (working line) if properly bred are brilliant health and longevity wise.

Border collies, all to 16+ years over 6 decades. But working types, not KC breeds. I wouldn't trust the KC standards. Mine are ISDS - they can look like anything provided they are smart!

And obviously mongers generally....

Terriers.
I’ve had five live to 18+ & one who only missed her 20th birthday by two weeks.

Standard poodles usually live well into their teens.

My pure bred KC registered dogs have been the healthiest dogs that lived a long age. The cross breeds I adopted has health issues sadly.

Staffordshire bull terriers have life expectancy up to about 18 years old.

They seem to be pretty bullet proof dogs.
