DAP products making dog ill, what is your experience?

Ten years ago our beautiful older girl was so scared of fireworks we tried a DAP collar. Not sure of the make, but they were new to me and at first it seemed to work. Then she started with vomiting and diarrhoea, was lethargic, unhappy and very ill. Vet couldn't find source of the illness. We genuinely thought she'd reached the end. This lasted for about a month. Then I removed the DAP collar as she didn't need it. Within 48h she was her old self. Suspicious it was the collar I gave her a month and put it on again. Within a day she was sick again.

Fast forward to now. New puppy. Extremely anxious. End of our tether so got an adaptil diffuser. Seemed to help. Then pup got diarrhoea. This made his very snappy and a bit mental. Just puppyness we thought. Then we let him sleep upstairs. We noticed his morning poo was normal and got worse through the day. He was also a different dog at my daughter's house. Suspicious again I switched off the diffuser. One day later and his poos are normal, he's calm and relaxed and like a different dog.

So I'm curious to know if anyone else has experienced adverse reactions from DAP products? Even just loose poo and mad behaviour (we think behaviour was due to having a bad belly)

The sleeping upstairs thing was mentioned because the diffuser was downstairs 🙈

No experience as I'm not a fan of any type of diffuser ect.
But, if you are worried about fireworks, play fireworks for dogs on YouTube...
Desensitisation is really your best and only option.

(There are lots of other sounds & videos available Inc dog TV!)

We had this issue with Adaptil but had better results using Pet Remedy. With fireworks, I agree that desensitisation and building positive associations are a better approach, as well as creating a safe space (crate, area under the table, bed etc) for pup now and making sure it is available to them when the fireworks are happening. Good luck.

Fireworks aren't an issue tbh. Jess died of old age 8 years ago and we have started with you tube videos for the new baby (fingers crossed)

I was really just looking for experiences from other dog owners who have used DAP products - diffusers, collars, sprays.

Just wondering if it's just me.

Mine wears the collar as she’s extremely anxious and I do think it helps. I wish it didn’t as I could do without paying for it every month but whenever I stop I notice a difference.
