How do I get puppy to ask to go out?

Hi all, I am a new dog owner and have a 14 week old maltipoo puppy. She seems very bright and is doing well with puppy training generally. However toilet training is not going brilliantly. I take her out every 20 mins, after meals and after sleeps, using bells at the door and praising like mad when she goes (chicken). However she doesn't seem to get she just can't stand up and wee (or poo) where she likes, and it should be done outside! We were using puppy pads but she just chews and plays with them so have stopped this.

I watch her like a hawk and if she is sniffing around I take her out as well.

How do I get her to ask to go out? I can't really get any work done with 20 minute stints (customer phone calls usually take 45 mins minimum.

She doesn't wee in her crate overnight.

I am a complete novice so please don't yell at me for being stupid, I am trying to do the right things.

Keep doing what you're doing - she's still very young and you're expecting a lot from her. Our dog didn't really completely get it until he was around 6 months old. I'm sorry to say it, but you should probably have thought about the work situation before getting a dog. Puppies are hard work for months and need your time and attention.

Anyone who calls you stupid isn’t worthy of reply. You’re doing the right things, she’s very young and she’ll get there given a bit more time. Keep up the good work 😃

If she won't respond to doggy doorbells, the only real way to stop accidents is to take them out so often that they never feel the need to go inside. I appreciate that's often easier said than done though!

If she doesn't mess in her crate can you pop her in there while you're on work calls?

Unfortunately toy/small breeds often take a lot longer to train as they have such small bladders.

She is very young so keep on what you are doing. I was so surprised when my puppy sat by the door and looked at me that I missed the moment and he weed on the doormat. None of my dogs have ever made a sound to go out.

We have bought a doggy door bell.
We are having 50% success asking to go out and 100% success when she wants to come back in.

Iv only had it a about 4 days.

Our dog didn't start to reliably ask to go out until he was around 5 months old.

Just keep doing what your doing. It's every 20 mins now but you will soon get more aware of her routine. She is still very young.

Love the idea of a dog doorbell 😁 (our cats just jump up and try to open the door handle)

Oh my gosh she rang the bell to go out to wee today! I hope we are turning a corner.
