My dog has been extremely itchy the last couple of days. Really chewing her legs and paws. I found this dead bug in her fur, on her back, but my first thought is that it’s a coincidence and it’s far too big to be a flea. She’s black and curly so very hard to look! She’s really restless and anxious atm so wondering g if this could have something to do with it. T

Doesn't look like one. Do a Google reverse...

HappyAsASandboy · 05/10/2022 21:16

That looks like a baby ladybird to me!

That doesn’t look like a flea.

If you want to rule out fleas - if you comb her over some wet kitchen roll, if there are fleas you will get tiny black spots falling off which soak red when they soak into the water - that’s flea dirt.

Lots of results on Google reverse - I have just looked!

I tried google reverse and got nothing! Admittedly never done it before and am on my phone so I might not be doing it properly.. what did you get @Pumpkinpatchlookinggood!

Don't know what it is. But it's not a flea.

Twillow · 05/10/2022 21:51

looks like a ladybird larvae

FruitPastilleNut · 05/10/2022 21:52

Good lord, definitely not a flea!

3AndADog · 05/10/2022 21:54

Oh gosh yes that’s what it is, a ladybird larvae! How random - she must have rolled in it!

Chewing paws can be a sign of an allergy though, maybe to something in her diet like chicken, or something in the environment

Too big for a flea and fleas have long back legs for jumping. They are so tiny you need a magnifying glass to identify them.
