Any Greyhound owners here? Pain tolerance question

On our morning walk, my greyhound injured himself. We were in the woods and I didn't see what happened but he came back with a very angry looking scrape on the inner thigh and some other minor scrapes and cuts. He was obviously in discomfort but there wasn't any bleeding so we took him home.
At home he started crying, and then panting and shivering. I called the vet who saw him straightaway. She looked him over (he really didn't like that) but said it just looked like superficial grazing. We have metacam for pain and antibiotics. Even though I gave the metacam at midday, he is still doing the panting and shivering. He isn't limping but walking very slowly and just looking so sad. Any movement and he whines, cries etc.
I've been googling and greyhounds are notorious for low pain thresholds but my heart is breaking for him. I didn't let the vet put iodine on the cuts because I think it might have finished him off.
My question is, how do I know whether he is just being a wuss or needs to go back to the vet? Is there something stronger I should ask for? I've been giving him lots of attention and I wonder if I'm making him worse?
Sorry, that was epic. If you have a grey, how does he or she deal with pain?

Give another day on the medication. My greyhound shattered a foot last year but dealt with it remarkably well although yelps as though she's being murdered for the slightest little thing usually!

If it's no better after a few doses of pain killer I'd go back to the vet in case they've missed anything (something in the wound, soft tissue injury etc). And I would also try to put something soothing on the cuts - Sudacreme is my go-to for dogs and horses although he may try to lick it off.

Ours got some kind of virus - checked over by the vet, given painkillers etc. Took him home and he lay on the sofa barely moving for 36 hours and intermittently whining and shivering. Then promptly stopped whining, ate a bowl of food and was right as rain. They are notorious drama queens. But if you're worried check back with the vet.

Thanks for the swift replies. I'll keep an eye on him and see if I can tempt him with a steak or something.
When we first got him (born during lockdown so never raced fortunately for him) I was at the vet every month for something - wind, constipation, diarrhoea, is this a grass seed in his paw? etc etc. I've got to know him better and felt like I could trust my gut but I hate seeing him in pain. I might ask them to sedate him and have a proper look.
