Anonymous RSPCA call

Can I make an anonymous RSPCA call on a family member?

They have 3 dogs, all of which have health issues that arent sorted. Matter fur, overweight, the water bowls are never filled and are filthy. Her house is a tip, it's a full on hoarders house. It stinks and they piss and poo everywhere. She has other animals that she never cleans out.

I'm disgusted in her but all other family members are telling me not to do it as it'll upset her (she hates me anyway so I don't care) I'm not doing it out of spite I just genuinely worry for the welfare of the animals.

I would do it in a heartbeat

sleepymum50 · 28/09/2022 10:46

Yes, yes, yes. I think you have a moral obligation to do this.

if you have any reservations just don’t tell family and deny it was you.

That sounds like appalling conditions and the sooner they get out the better. It may even bring her help for herself.

People who are cruel to animals are the lowest of the low. Report her

TwowaystoUrmston · 28/09/2022 11:05

You can try but last time I called RSPCA there was a recorded message saying unless an animal is at immediate risk of death to consult the website for advice. I did continue the call as NDN's dog was permanently out in the garden with no shelter in a heatwave but they said this wasn't an immediate risk to life (!!!) and refused to come out. So while I wouldn't hesitate to report in the circumstances you describe OP I'm not actually sure there's anyone to report to anymore Sad

Smaller local rescues will sometimes help, they have no legal powers (RSPCA are the only animal rescue which does) but will sometimes get involved and try to persuade owners to sign their pets over in cases like this so might be worth ringing round a few in your area.

Ring and report. Once they know about it, they have a responsibility to go.

100% yes. Sounds like she has some major mental health issues and needs social services to step in as well as RSPCA.

AriettyHomily · 28/09/2022 11:24

Yes I would.

Why SS? Haven’t seen any mention of children? Yes I’m sure you know you can make an anonymous report...
