My darling girl died this morning

She was 9. Wagging her tail sat in her bed as I came down this morning, I went through to her to let her out half an hour later as she hadn't made an attempt to come to the door. She has been getting lazier lately so didn't think anything of it. So I went through to her and she was gone, she was fine and now she's gone. I don't know what happened I'm absolutely broken she was everything to us.

I lost my darling girl two weeks ago - she was hit by a car. Never felt physical pain like it, I honestly felt utterly bereft. One step, one day at a time, it does get less intense. Really feel for you x

A vet said to me when I lost my favourite cat aged 8, that a cat (or dog) doesn't care how long their life is, they care how good their life is. Sounds like your girl had a good life with you.

yeah, they suffer badly with DCM (dilated cardiomyopathy) … the boys tend to suffer for weeks/months with symptoms whereas the girls show no symptoms and just suddenly die. There was one in our dobie group who let the dog out for a wee, went to put the kettle on … thought they dog was taking its time so went to check, dog was dead on the grass. No symptoms, seemingly fit and healthy dog, 5 years old. It’s terrible, apparently something like 60% of Dobermanns now will die of DCM

I'm so sorry to all of you for your losses. And your kind words mean the world to me they really do.
I woke up forgetting, expecting to see her at the bottom of the stairs. I'm just so overwhelmed with sadness.

@Morninmornin These first few weeks are so raw. I had a call this morning to say my girl's ashes were now at the vets to be collected and I felt knocked sideways.

My other dog is very down as well which doesn't help.

My heart goes out to you. I'm so very sorry for your loss. Your darling girl was loved and had a wonderful life to the end although I know that it still hurts regardless of that.

In tears for you and her although I don't know you. I'll hug my girl extra hard tonight.

one of my closest friend's dog died the same day as The Queen. He was gorgeous and I loved him to bits. She'd rescued him 10 years ago and we thought he was about 18 months then, but the emergency vet who PTS (nothing could be done) said she thought he was older than 12.

in time the fact she was sitting up & waggy, then she just wasn't, will bring you some comfort, but for now just feel how you feel. When my girl went I took a few days A/L no way I could have gone to work.

Heartbreaking 💔 So so sorry to hear of those who are hurting.

The easiest hello, the hardest goodbye 🐾 They knew how very much loved they were & still are. Hold on to that, knowing they feel no pain 💐
