Dog boot recommendations please

My dog cut his paw badly a couple of weeks ago, stitches in for another week.

He’s allowed on short lead walks this week but needs it bandaged and a waterproof boot on top. I’ve tried various ones from the pet shop and Amazon but they all come off so easily.

He’ll be needing a boot for a couple of weeks after the stitches are out and can be off lead so I really want to find something secure and comfortable for him as he is unbelievably desperate to run again!

Bag for life to keep it waterproof and some vet wrap to keep the bag in place?
or possibly a cast protector might do the trick depending on the size of your dogs leg

We’ve been using vet wrap but it seems to slide down his leg after a while. Not helped by him trying to lick or chew it at any opportunity!

Cast protector is a good shout, will try that

If he chews it then he should be wearing a cone.

Pawz were recommended to us by a vet physio - they’re the best we’ve tried. They look like a rubber balloon so are waterproof and don’t come off easily

@mountainsunsets he is in a cone but will contort himself as best as he can to get a bit of foot……..

@BefuddledCakeBaker great will take a look thank you

If he can still reach then the cone isn't long enough - you can get extenders for them or add something like pool noodles cut in half around the edges?

We’ve used Pawz ones quite a lot as our dog has SLO and has had a partial toe amputation + lost a few nails , they’ve worked quite well for us but I have never let mine off lead in them to actually run about .

@BefuddledCakeBaker and @Floralnomad the Pawz ones are brilliant! Got some today and they’re so much comfier for him, stay on and will be great for a bit of protection when the stitches come out and we can get rid of the dreaded cone 👍

@Autumn101 so glad they work well for you! Our physio did say not to leave them on too long just because their feet sweat but should be fine on long walks etc. Mine has to wear them just on his back paws otherwise his claws wear down. I keep a bag in the car to put the boots in if they’re muddy after walks too. Wishing you both a speedy recovery
