Fleas - Using Spot On and Seresto

Hello,

My darling old boy has fleas for the first time EVER. I moved and skipped the medication… big mistake.

I used Spot On Plus on him yesterday and I’ve ordered a Seresto collar as that’s worked brilliantly before. Can I put it straight on him
when it arrives on Tuesday?

I’ve goggled but no clear answer.

thanks

Why would you need a spot on and a collar? Surely that would be doubling up the treatment. Is that usual?

I'm very cautious about flea treatments though, as my dog has a bad reaction to every type I've tried.

I applied spot on but upon googling it sounds like it’s ineffective now and he’s off to say with my parents for the week.

I'd be inclined to check with your vet before adding the collar just in case.

My vet advised against Seresto as it can cause adverse reactions in humans handling the dog, and she knew I had a bad reaction to another ‘spot on’ type thing.
Read the Seresto tin very carefully to see what it says about doubling up, handling etc. Especially important if anyone has asthma etc.

Fleas are the worst! Same here my 12 year old dog got them for the first time this summer. We were told by the vet that the spot in treatment we were using (Bob Martin) isn't as affective as it used to be and it took us months to finally be rid of them because of the life cycle of the fleas. We had to wait 4 weeks to try a different treatment because there is a risk of overdosing, so I'd too be asking the vet if the collar can be used with spot on treatment.

They also said that most fleas will be in the house, not on the pet and lay dormant so you need to be on top of vacuuming. I took a day off work to get in every nook and cranny/spray flee treatment etc. it's a ball ache! We also picked up some shampoo to ease his skin irritation.
