Could anyone recommend a chew proof one?

Can’t help sorry, but interested in the recommendations! We have a destructive dog too!

Tuffies make excellent ones. Not cheap, but really really built to last.

Hugasauras · 06/09/2022 19:56

Tuffies do one:

www.tuffies.co.uk/browse/c-Chewproof-dog-beds-7

They aren't cheap but we've had one of their non-chewproof ones for about 7 years now and it still looks good as new.

I have always used cheap faux fur throws (b&m, Wilko) for my dog. No stuffing to be pulled out and potentially swallowed, easier to wash and dry (I tumble dry on low even though it says not to).

My dog is nearly 6 and I have recently bought him a proper needy for the first time since he was a puppy and so far it is still intact.

RIPWalter · 06/09/2022 19:59

bed not needy. Although he is a VERY needy doggy.

HiK9 do some beds which - while not advertised as indestructible - aren't particularly appealing as something to chew, or easy to get their teeth around. They also do spare parts www.hik9.com/

You could, of course, put some cheap fleece on top of one and accept that the cheap fleece is likely to be chewed but hopefully not the bed below.

Spanielsarepainless · 07/09/2022 11:09

My last dog was a bed chewer. He ended up with a plastic basket lined with vetbed. I don't think vetbed is good to chew.

Worriedpanda50 · 07/09/2022 18:37

The tuffies one is soooo expensive and am not sure about the one that looks like a trampoline

We gave up whilst pup was in the irritating chew/hump it all phase.

In his crate now he has vet bed and various fleece offcuts from the haberdashery shop which cost very little. He "makes his own" bed at night. Has a cheap Aldi mattress bed in the living room for snoozing during the day. Weirdly has escaped the chewing/jumping i think because it's an awkward shape/size?

FortunaMajor · 07/09/2022 18:47

We have 3 of the 'trampoline' beds. My dog loves hers and will choose it over the big cushion type bed. B&M do a cheap version of it, currently on sale.for £10.

My pups get old towels and cheap IKEA fleece blankets (the under £2) ones until they learn to stop chewing. No point spending a fortune for something to get destroyed.

barneymcgroo · 07/09/2022 19:35

The tuffies one is expensive. But I've had ours over 2 years, and it's still in great condition. Before that, she'd go through a £30 dog bed in about a month. So yes, expensive, but you get what you pay for.

Hugasauras · 07/09/2022 19:46

Our tuffies bed is more seven years old and still like new! We were getting through more than a bed a year before as they always went lumpy and just a bit manky or didn't wash well so we have definitely saved money in the long run! Sometimes cheap beds are a false economy.

Waterfallgirl · 07/09/2022 19:48

Another one for Tuffies. They last a long time. Before we had one we spent a fortune on replacing many many beds that had been chewed and taken apart. They also do a liner for plastic beds .

Worriedpanda50 · 08/09/2022 07:56

Oh I hadn't seen tuffies have the shop section on the website. Just saw the 3 orrible plastic green beds for a fortune. I'll get him a mattress from the site.

He doesn't chew all the time. It's occasional but when he does, he goes for it.

We have the flat mattress it’s never been destroyed!
