Puppy not waking or crying at night?

Is this normal? We have had her for 2 nights and both nights Iv took her out for a wee around 11-11.30 and then put her in her crate and she doesn’t make a peep.

She doesn’t wake me up to go a wee either… both nights Iv woken up around 4 and took her out to go a wee. She goes and I then put her back in her crate. She whines for less then 2 minutes and then silence until I get up in the morning at 6.30-7.

Is this normal? This is my first pup and I was expecting to be up all night. Her crate is in the front room and the door is open all day. Iv gave her a couple of meals in there and she’s happy to lay or sit in there.

Will she start crying later on down the line?

She’s a Cavapoo.

Thank you Christmas! Last night there were 3x 10 minute cries (breeder said cry it out which I hate but I'm still breastfeeding and cosleeping with our 18 month old human baby so I said DP either supported breeder or slept downstairs til he sleeps thru. He had same pattern when we left him tonight. 10 minute cry then went to sleep so fingers crossed. Hope you have a good night too x

I’m just taking her out for one last bathroom break.

I have found that I need to let her have a good 5 mins when it’s bathroom break time as she does little pees one after another and I was taking her in after one wee before. 😂

I crate trained my dogs and the first dog was quiet and good too. Second one would (and still does at 11) have an accident unless you get her out promptly when she wakes up - though yesterday I slept in til 8.30 and neither dog stirred til then.
Don't look for trouble!

My daughter had a lab puppy I advised her of all the night scenarios and what not to do...felt I'd forewarned her as I've had dogs all my life and I know it all! and the little blighter was the same as your pup..good as gold and continued to be so ..of course he had his daytime moments but at night he's a joy still 15 months later.

My parents were also advising me how their lab pup was really upset for the first two weeks etc
rang me after the first night to see how she was and I said I think she’s broken as she didn’t make a sound all night.

She slept from just gone 11 to 6.15 (I woke up at 6.15 to use the bathroom and I’m sure she heard me) so I went down and let her out. Another dry night and she has her jabs today!

I have been super lucky too - your pup is absolutely adorable!

Mine is 12 weeks and I have had her for 3 weeks, from day 1 she went to bed around 8/830 and woke anything from 4-5am for a wee. Nowadays its 530/6 - or whenever my crazy cats wake her!! No accidents, or crying.

Climbingthelaundrymountain · 24/08/2022 16:01

Ours never cried at night. He settled really easily in the crate and still prefers to sleep in there at night aged almost 3. Think we were very lucky.

Christmas, ours slept thru last night 😊

Aww yay!! This is so much easier then having a newborn baby. My daughter woke up every night for 2 years 😂 this is a dream.

Dalmation from four months not a sound still the same at seven. He's got his own bed at the end of ours.I right from the beginning kept him off our bed but my DW let him sneek up when I was out.He starts off in his own bed but now waits till we're asleep and sneeks up again.I woke one morning with him looking straight at me with head on the pillow but he's mostly curled up between us now with Shitzu at the bottom.

womaninatightspot · 29/08/2022 06:18

My lab puppy was the same. She is such a good dog. She waits until I’m asleep then hops on my bed these days though.

We also have a cavapoo (she's 2 now), but when she was a puppy she literally cried in her crate for the first 20mins on night one; then never again. She's always gone dry in her crate from 10-7 every night. Although we got rid of her crate when she was just over one as she suddenly decided she wanted to be near us and now she sleeps in her bed in our room. Enjoy, cavapoos are the best 😊

I think this sort of stuff must depend on temperament and some breeds are more placid than others. We used to have a Labrador and nothing much upset him. When we first bought him home as a small puppy he only cried the first night and after that he was absolutely fine. He had a crate with a comfy bed/cuddly toy downstairs. He did used to wee/poo in the corner. Then we moved him out of the crate and put his bed into the kitchen (tiled floor so easy to clean). That was fine for him too but it did take him a few more weeks to be able to hold himself all night re toilet training.
