I’m so sorry if this a repeat of a thread!
my brother let me know he has recently treated his cat for fleas. I stayed this weekend, and have noticed my dog scratching. Just looked and there are fleas. He was treated routinely 2 weeks ago.

there doesn’t seem to be many on him, and when I got him he had fleas and was quite distressed. He doesn’t seem overly bothered , except the odd scratch. Will they just die over the next day or so? I have an indoor cat myself, also routinely treated, and don’t want her to get them either?

Maybe an old wives tale but I thought cat fleas cant live on dogs? If so it means they won't be on him for long. Bad news is they will probably migrate to your cat.

They won’t just die out if they are in your house , the house will need treating .

my cat was also treated 2 weeks ago, so hopefully they won’t “stick”, if you know what I mean!

will look at house treatment as well.

I would not wait to see. I would speak to the vet and see what product I can use on both cat and dog now. If they are on your animals they are in your house

1 flea can lay 40 eggs a day - soon leads to a lot of fleas!

Cat fleas can and do live on dogs and humans so yes it is an old wives tale

Spoken to vet, am going to spray house, have given dog a bath and a good comb. Luckily the ones on dog are now dead so treatment 2 weeks ago seems to have done it’s job! None on cats! Will be vacuuming lots as well.
