We found a lump

We found a lump on DDog yesterday. It literally appeared overnight. It's on her stomach, it's squishy. Phoned the vets straight away who booked us in today to have it looked at.

They're not sure exactly what it is but they think it might be the beginnings of a hernia. It could be something else - but they seemed quite worried. She's booked in first thing tomorrow to have it properly looked at and then possibly for an operation at the same time (she is a very anxious dog and wouldn't let them get close enough so she's having to be sedated).

She is scratching and licking herself a lot and is more agitated than normal so I think she is in pain.

Has anyone experienced this before with their DDog? I'm shit scared that it's something sinister. Thank you.

We had this with our 9 year old springer spaniel - lump appeared over one weekend when we were away. It turned out to be a tumour, the vet operated really quickly to spay her and remove the tumour and some of her mammary tissue - so she lost most of her nipples on one side. She made a good recovery and lived on happily for another 5 years with no recurrence.

So even if the investigation turns out to reveal something potentially serious, it sounds as if you have caught it early so the vet may be able to deal with it.

Hope all goes well tomorrow.

Thank you, I appreciate this. So glad to hear that your lovely dog was ok.
