Hi I’m I’m due a baby in a few months and have a toddler and primary age school child

we have two dogs ones old and fairly calm only requires small walks
one’s younger and a more active breed and require a good few hours of running attention and training at minimum
both rescues (if that’s relevant !)

so the questions is -I’m worried about fitting in the dogs care - around new baby care needs and exhaustion?

especially having two dogs now and one that’s a puppy still (under one year old)

my husband works long hours and is out 8-8 usually (including commuting)

I will be responsible for the dogs
toddler newborn and primary age school runs
(dogs are not allowed in the school or I could could have used that as walk times)

so any tips on how to manage, and any shares of your own routines, if you have a similar family set up? Or Am I worried about nothing?

thankyou

I loved having dogs when I had my young children. They help keep me saneSmile

I would strap the toddler into an offroader buggy have baby in a sling and we would walk miles once the school age child was at school. We had the same issue that the dog was not allowed in school so we drop off older child back home and then go out again with the dog.

When we got home usually the toddler and dogs would be chilled and the baby got some one time with me. I felt much better for getting out and about toddler and baby had fresh air and toddler had some walking.

(House was a tip though!)

In the summer it was a good excuse to get out on my own in the evenings when OH came back. I used to love the evening walks on my own Smile and left OH to bedtime of the older child.

Well with dh not leaving til 8 he can get up at 6 and either watch the kids whilst you walk the dogs or vice versa so that’s the morning sorted
then the afternoon just loosely plan a walk at some point depending what else you want to do that day
