My dog has just eaten my little boys poo

Never known her to do anything like this before.

My toddler did a poo in his potty which usually gets emptied straight away but the bathroom was occupied so DH left it in the other room. Few minutes later the dog comes in licking her lips, she'd eaten everything 🤮🤢

What on earth?!?!

"He even ate cat poo direct from the cat's bum once...."

This has to be the most disgusting thing I've ever heard and surely wins today's MN!!

Grin

The cat looked so confused, bless him! He turned round to bury it and it was gone - the disgusting dog looked extremely pleased with himself though 😂

ChipButtyCurrySauce · 30/07/2022 13:20

I had a dog that on occasion would fish soiled nappies out of the bin and eat the contents. Also liked to empty the cats litter tray of poo too. 🤮

Maverickess · 30/07/2022 13:37

Remember the stories about people visiting places when public toilets were closed and so people were shitting in the streets etc?
I live in one of those places and my dog loves to roll in smelly things, and apparently human shit is the most desirable scent for your dog about town to wear.
Get a dog they said, it'll be fun they said...... 🤦

But yeah, dogs are disgusting pretty much, but they must be pretty awesome because most dog owners love their dogs despite these disgusting tendancies!

Dogs are gross. If you don’t want it eaten you need to tidy up straight away.

I’d probably feed a probiotic if I had one kicking around to preempt any problems

No need for a probiotic. Faeces are full of good bacteria.

Human excrement is the caviar of poos to a dog. I bet he loved it.

Just hope he doesn't puke it up again..!

littlepeas · 30/07/2022 15:22

My friend’s ds went through a phase of pooing outdoors - he once did this when we were out walking (despite her protestations) and while I was looking for a poo bag a random Labrador ran over and gobbled it up! My sister’s dog has also eaten poo from the potty! My lab will wait next to my other dog while he poos in the hope of getting to eat it - we have to be very quick. Dogs like poo.

Namechangeforthisonenow · 30/07/2022 18:05

The dog was sick today. Can't think why 🤢

If it's any consolation, exactly the opposite happened when DC was crawling. Now an adult and totally healthy.

easyday · 30/07/2022 18:41

My dogs eat my cats poo. Yum.

Theredfoxfliesatmidnight · 30/07/2022 19:29

Yeah, this is why dogs are fucking disgusting.

Motorina · 30/07/2022 19:46

When my nephew was two or three, he had chronic constipation. He used to produce things like rabbit turds that would drop out of the leg of his trousers.

My dog would follow him round, nose pressed to ankle, like he was a magic gumball machine.

My nephew found this hilarious.

Dogs are gross.

So are small boys.

Theredfoxfliesatmidnight · 30/07/2022 19:29

Yeah, this is why dogs are fucking disgusting.

We find poo eating grim but it doesn't harm the dog or anyone else. Plenty of humans in the world doing much worse.

bellamountain · 30/07/2022 20:51

I knew a dog that went round eating it's own poo! I can imagine a toddler poo tasting much nicer Grin

Cocolapew · 30/07/2022 20:55

We had our puppy at the very yesterday she's was throwing up all day, I'll bet my life poo, probably cats, was the culprit.

stillherenow · 30/07/2022 22:49

Mine eats aces of cat poo as next doors cats go all the time in the garden (despite me putting Holly EVERYWHERE plus any fox poo around and loves rabbit poo. He probably has cat poo most days .

Turningstreets · 31/07/2022 13:02

Over lockdown there was a lot of lockdown toileting going on in our local park 🤢

My dog came out from behind a bush with a very smelly beard more than once.

Revolting!

Dogs love poo. It tastes really, really good to them.

My own dog is partial to sheep, cow and cat poo - the fresher the better.

He even ate cat poo direct from the cats bum once - poor cat was very confused when he turned round to bury it and it wasn't there 🙈🤣

That really made me smirk. My cat would be very outraged by that. Doubt my dog is brave enough to try it though😆

PugInTheHouse · 31/07/2022 22:03

I have one dog who loves eating poo, its gross. We have to be really quick at clearing up both his and our other dogs poo. He tries to eat it when out also. They both also try to get the poo from the cat litter box.

Worst one was the other day he stole a poo bag full of his own poo from the poo bin we have in the garden, he pooed out the bag full of poo the next day!

HotSauceCommittee · 31/07/2022 22:27

This is why I could not have a dog. If it turned out to be a shit muncher, I wouldn't let it anywhere near me! The germs!

Sitdowncupoftea · 01/08/2022 15:41

Dogs are dogs. My dog rolls in all sorts of poo and dead animals. If the dead animal is stinking full of maggots he's in it.

maranella · 01/08/2022 15:44

Rot · 29/07/2022 23:01

This is why cats are inherently superior to dogs.

Dogs are revolting.

😂😂😂

You're not wrong @Rot!

BooseysMom · 01/08/2022 15:48

This is why I could not have a dog. If it turned out to be a shit muncher, I wouldn't let it anywhere near me! The germs!

Exactly this. Plus I have a really sensitive sense of smell and anything like the smell of dog sht makes me feel like throwing up. Just the smell of a dog without the sht bit causes this reaction in me.

BooseysMom · 01/08/2022 15:48

Sorry don't know why half of that was bold!

He only dared do it with our smallest cat.

Though, I'd secretly quite like to see him try it with our giant fat boy cat Wink

TooHotToTangoToo · 01/08/2022 15:56

My terriers eat horse poo and my puppy eats her own poo Envy I spoke to the vet and he said it could be for a number of reasons

Hunger
They like the taste and texture
They saw their Mum do it
Getting vitamins that they are lacking in their diet
