Deterring cat from garden when you have a dog

Just that really.

A random cat has taken to crapping in my garden - occupational hazard of living in a city, I guess.

I know there are a variety of products, home made and otherwise, you can use as a deterrent. However my dog uses the garden, including to toilet. So obviously I don't want anything dangerous to the pup, and I don't want to put her off doing her business (especially right now, when other options to go out are so limited with the heat). So e.g. one of those devices with high pitched sounds might bother my doggy as well. And chemical products might be harmful

Any bright ideas?

Thanks!

I would guess the cat will soon make itself scarce if there is a dog now.

Unfortunately pussy cat is undeterred :-( Tends to go v early in the morning before dog is roaming around the garden

We have a cat who fights with other cats that comes into our back garden. We were told (by the vets) to get a water gun and shoot any other cats who come into our garden, we did and it works. They all stay away now, and so harm done to the other cats!

I second a Water gun or spray bottle. We had a tom that would jump into the house through windows, or if the back door was open and would spray to mark territory inside the house !!!!! Bloody STANK!!!

The water spray definitely worked for us, he's still around the neighbourhood as I see him around but he hasn't come back to ours.

Water pistol could work actually - just got to catch the bugger in the act 😊I've set up a ring camera in the garden so hopefully i can get a picture of when he/she/it is on the prowl and time it accordingly.

I would have thought the dog would deter the cats itself. Mine does.

As a cat owner, I've always suggested to neighbours that they use water pistols on my cats, if they are being a nuisance.
Also if you let your dog out more frequently, this is alsi likely to put the offending cat off.

I have cats who live with my dog. I suggest a water pistol too. It's a non cruel method. I had a miserable neighbour who I caught pelting my cat with stones. I threw them back at him .
