Fussy Lurcher

I have a Lurcher. She's about 7. She came from rescue. I'm trying to feed her quality food. She wouldn't eat raw food . I had to give £40+ of the stuff away to a neighbour. I've tried Harringtons, Forthglade, Skinners, Naturo she eats a tiny amount, leaves the rest. She will, however, scarf down Pedigree Chum like it's going out of fashion. I know it's not as nutritionally superior as more quality food, but she will actually eat the damn stuff. Should I give in and feed the Chum or just keep putting out the good stuff and watch her waste away? I wouldn't ever do that, btw

We give our greyhound very little in the way of meat. Maybe a quarter of a can of butchers, and a little bit of water, but mainly its biscuits. If you give them burgess supadog they get protein measured out properly with the biscuits.

I would feed her Chum until she's settled in well and gradually introduce better quality food a little at a time. I wouldn't keep changing her food constantly.

Our previous dog, a whippet lurcher, did very well on Chum with mixer for 17 years. This was before you could compare nutritional values on the net and we didn't know any better!

Our current lurcher has Millies Wolfheart with a sardine or something to liven it up.

Oops, yes I didn’t really answer the main part of the question but as the other person says,I agree that you want the dog to eat, and the quality of the food isn’t going to be a major issue so long as she’s eating something. All the best.

Dogs don't need haute cuisine. As our nutrition expert said a few weeks ago, thirty years ago puppies came home at eight weeks and were fed either on Chum or Chappie with Winalot, or kibble from Beta. These days the choice is bewildering. I would feed Chum and take it from there. As long as your dog is healthy and poo is OK!

feed pedigree until she’s settled, then I would look for some suppliers who do sample bags, if you drop them an email most have them, but don’t rush
