We are getting a puppy in just under 2 weeks (a cockapoo which I know isn't favoured on here) and I'm confused about what to have her in in the car! There seems to be so many crates for the boot, seat things for in the car combined with belts/leads etc! I'm confused sbout what is best! Especially in the early days when she is so small and young! What do people find best/recommend!?

It depends quite a lot on what sort of car you have and how many people / how much stuff you also need to carry.

Once you determine what suits you car or cars, start with that. So if it is a crate/ dog guard in the boot or a harness and dog hammock in the back seat, get her used to it from the early days. So much easier than breaking a habit that no longer suits.
my 2 ( labs) are in the boot behind a guard which can be split into 2. For longer journeys one lies on the back seat restrained by a harness.
But the key thing for me is that they are both calm wherever I put them and they are restrained for the safety of both them and me.

Have a look at Ezydog car harnesses. Not cheap but we got one for our dog because we wanted maximum safety and these are tested. He was able to sit, lie down and sleep absolutely fine. You loop the car seat belt through the harness.
The ones that have a separate strap to connect the dog harness to the seat belt socket are much less safe. Look up doggy "crash test dummy" tests on YouTube.
A dog in a crate in the boot is restrained from moving around, but not well protected. Dogs have been killed in crashes that way.

It depends on your car and what suits you and your dog.

For example, is your puppy used to a crate? Will they enjoy travelling in the boot where they can't see around them? Will they be car sick? Will they bark/whine/cry and cause a distraction while you're driving? etc.

Yes, a crate is safest BUT if your dog is just going to sit there and cry, bark, pee and vomit, then you may need to consider a harness on the back seats etc.

Thanks! We haven't got her yet so not sure how she'll respond in the car! What do I do in the very early days?
We've a standard hatchback car - a focus and have 2 kids high back boosters in the back!
I'll have a look at the ezydog harness to start with! From everything I've learned about cockapoos I don't imagine she'll love being in the boot alone!
