Day 1 - Maggie is here

Today Maggie arrived! She was dropped off at 12pm.

We've had two poos in the garden, about fifteen wees in the garden and only one wee on the kitchen floor. I am counting that as a win!

She's not been crying at all. She's been pretty playful when awake - lots of tail wagging, galloping about. We've had a lovely bonding nap (I was out last night for the end of term and am a little delicate) and now I am 100% the favourite.

She's out for the count just now.

My plan is to sleep on the sofa so I can take her out when she wakes. Any other hints and tips to survive the first night?!

No hints and tips and we've never had a puppy but she's absolutely gorgeous!

Oh she's adorable - no tips i'm afraid but will be following as we are considering a puppy

She’s absolutely gorgeous!

I met my little dog when she was 10 months’ old, so not had a tiny pup, but can recommend: consistency in her routine which she’ll get used to, getting her into training ASAP, lots of cuddles and reinforcement of good behaviour/weeding in the right place etc.

Also, more frequent, short walks at first rather than long ones. From google: A general guide for exercising puppies is to allow them one to two sessions of five minutes walking for each month of age, so for example, a four month old pup could enjoy walks of 20 minutes at a time, once or twice a day.

Enjoy her because she’ll grow up so quickly. They are the best- so loving, pure and rewarding and she’ll love you back in spades ❤️

how cute!!
Have lots of chew toys available for bitey moments, favourites here are olive & coffee wood sticks, yak bars, split antlers (must be split big ones can damage teeth) and nyla bones
i did similar with our pup sleeping on the sofa and ours slept through 1030/530/6 from about 10 weeks
mostly enjoy the cuddles as they make up for the monster moments 😂

find a good trainer who trains in a way you like too and start training with them at home before you they can go out
