Does anyone work from home with a young dog?
We have a 9 month working cocker. I'm at home, working between 2-4 days a week.

She used to be happy in the office with me, with chews and toys for a couple of hours but now she's really not and insists on being downstairs. She is in the kitchen with a dog door into a large enclosed garden. I have frequent breaks so pop down for a quick bout of training exercises or game.

She's walked pre-work, a quick walk at lunchtime (around 30 mins) then another walk in the evening.

She seems perfectly happy but I'm worrying about her being on her own so much. How do others cope?

I think it’s good for dogs to be used to being on their own, I’d leave the option for her to come up but if she chooses to be by herself then that’s fine too

We do similar and our dog will spend most of the morning in her bed not seeing anyone and chooses not to come and hang out with us

I wouldn't worry if she has the option to join you but prefers to be in the kitchen I'd just leave her to it.

If she has the option to join you but is choosing to be alone, I really wouldn't worry!

I don’t under is she unhappy your upstairs and she’s downstairs?
it doesn’t read like that?

when I’m working ddog goes to sleep on our bed!! She isn’t allowed but knows when I’m a call she’ll get a decent snooze before she’s evicted

Imo a happy ddog will pick there own comfort over being with you if it suits them 😂

Yes, she's happy. I just feel a bit guilty that she spends so much time alone.

The responses have reassured me I'm worrying about nothing.

I've got an 8 month EBT with full run of the house and garden. I'm working 10 hours a day from home with a pretty intense job so have a dog walker in once a day in the morning for my boy. My partner is home early afternoon so he has company from then on. My puppy spends most of his time up in the office with me (And some handy chews!) but sometimes prefers to be downstairs more now he's older. I try and take breaks to run around the garden with him but do feel bad when I'm stuck in meetings and he has to be quiet!
